想像力を持つこと

今日はいつもと違う視点で話してみようと思う。

このブログを見てくださっている方は大人の方であることを含めて今日の話をしたいと思う。

先日、フィンランドにいるサンタクロースが、今年はCOVID-19による、トラベル規制により日本に来ることができないというメッセージを送ったという主旨の記事を見た。

はじめに見た時は、あれ、ソリで来るんじゃなかったっけ？って思ってしまった。

でもそれは私の考えが甘く、想像力の欠乏によるものであるということに気づかされたのだ。

ご存じの通り、サンタさんからのプレゼントを楽しみにしている子どもたちのために親は頑張るのだ。（念のため言葉を濁しておこう）

サンタさんのそのセリフは子どもたちにとってどういうものか。

きっと悲しむに違いない。

でも、友達はもらっているのに自分だけもらうことができない子がいたならば、それはもっと悲しいに違いない。

今時、そんな人いないでしょと思っている人がいるかもしれない。

私は、素直に子どもたちに伝えようと思う、

今年はパパとママが買うからねと。

そして、サンタさんのセリフはこう続く。

These things are always in our hearts and I send them to you.

クリスマスの考え方はずっと変わらない。それは「善意と分かち合い」である。それは私たちの心の中にある。そして、それをあなたに贈るからね。

今の歪んだ社会の中で、私は子どもたちに夢なんかよりも優しさをもってほしいと思うのだ。いつだって、だれかの気持ちに寄り添うことができる強ささえあれば。

当たり前のことが当たり前でなくなる。そんな時に自分はたとえ切迫した状況でなかったとしても、想像力の足りない人間にだけはなりたくない。
