哲学入門

哲学の話ってすごく難しそうですよね。

哲学とは、”人生・世界、事物の根源のあり方・原理を、理性によって求めようとする学問”のこと。

では、この哲学に目が向けられる時代とはどのような時代だと思いますか？

 

今とかまさにそうだと思います。

言葉を選ばずに言うならば、精神が安定しない時です。

 

 

コロナ禍の中で私たちは、私たちのスケールベースでは見えない敵と戦っている訳ですよね。

先日、ＴＶタックルでのビートたけしさんのコメントがシュールすぎてなんだか、寺田寅彦さんの「化物の進化」を思い出してしまった。

その時のコメントは、

「なんでこんな大騒ぎになってしまってるのか。出てないお化けをみんなで怖がっている気がする。」

というもの。

仰る通りだと思う。

 

とりわけ神を信じている訳でもないが、

もし神がいるのならば、人間が地球に及ぼしてきた甚大な破壊行為に比べれば、大したことではない。人間は大きくなりすぎた。減らす他ないとでも言うだろうか。

 

数で人をとらえるなんてという批判があるかもしれない。

しかし我々も多の生き物を数で認識し、たとえ減ったところでなんの努力をしてきたというのだろう。

 

今が悲惨な時代だと思っているかもしれないが果たしてそうだろうか。

これが地（ち）であるかなんてわからない。

 

後の世代には、呼吸をするための空気すらないかもしれない。資源も尽きているかもしれない。食べ物もないかもしれない。

もしくはこの地球をめちゃくちゃにしたまま、違う惑星に移動して、それを何度も繰り返すのかもしれない。

 

 

実際に大切な人を失っていることも承知の上ではあるが、私たちは本当に誰かの大切なものを奪ってこなかったのかと考えると本当に情けなく思う日々である。

 

 

最初の話にもどそう。

心穏やかでないときに我々は時に哲学に心の持ちよう、精神的な安定をゆだねるのである。

先人たちが考えてきた、所謂、学問の始まりであるともいえる。

 

小難しい哲学書でなくてもいい。

易しい哲学書を中学生になった頃には読んで欲しいと思う。

こんな社会的に不安定な時でも生活スタイルは変われども、いち早く精神的な落ち着きを得られるだろう。

それを宗教的なものだと思い、身構えてしまう人もいるかもしれないのだが、誰かに何かをゆだねるのではなく、その事実ベースによる思考法の勉強だと思ってもらえるとわかりやすいだろうか。

また、納得できないような扱いを受けた時、おそらく、哲学書の言葉が必ず助けになるだろう。

 

哲学者の中で毎日自分に刺激を与えてくれる言葉は、

ソクラテス（紀元前469年～紀元前399年頃）の言葉である、

「不知の自覚」

恐らく世間では、

「無知の知」という言葉が使われていることが多い。

これは、知らないことを知っているという意味であろうか。

 

人間の機能欠如という意味で言っている言葉では決してない。

 

だから私は前者の方が適しているのではないかと考える。

「知らないものをその通り知らないと思う」という自覚である。

 

多様な物事に対して、私たちは「知っている」と思い込んでしまっているということ。

ウイルスに関しても同じだ。

ウイルスの全てを私たちは理解できる。克服できる。

この言葉が人間の愚かさの象徴だ。

 

我々が全てを理解できている訳ではない。そしてできるわけでもない。

わからないことがまだある。

そう思うことでモノゴトを前進させることができるでのある。

 

 

暗算ができる人は電卓を作ろうとは思わない。

できないことがあるから、クリエイティブなことができるのだ。

 

スーッと話が入ってくるような物語文からの学びよりも、

その言葉を自分なりに噛み砕き、自分のあたまで考えられるような本の方が大きな学びがある。

それが一番の勉強につながると私は考える。
